What a token is
A token is a unit of model work, quoted against the standard model — roughly one million tokens per US dollar. A typical question answered from your own pages costs a few thousand. Heavier models do more thinking per word and draw the balance down faster, so the rate for each is published rather than blended into one flattering number.
